BACKGROUND
PRIMAL was approached to create a bespoke home gym that could deliver a complete training experience within a compact residential space. The client wanted a gym capable of supporting multiple training styles — including strength training, functional fitness, and conditioning — without the room feeling overcrowded or compromising on aesthetics. The challenge was creating a highly versatile environment that maximised every square metre through intelligent gym design, equipment selection, and integrated storage solutions.
THE BRIEF
Using detailed CAD gym design renders and careful layout planning, PRIMAL worked closely with the client to map out a space that balanced performance and practicality. Every piece of equipment was selected not only for its training functionality, but also for its ability to support multiple exercise variations while maintaining an open and streamlined environment. Storage and equipment positioning played a critical role in ensuring the gym remained organised, efficient, and visually cohesive.
THE SOLUTION
At the centre of the space is the PRIMAL MRX 5.0 Multi Rack System, designed to support a wide variety of strength and functional training exercises from one central footprint. The multifunctional rack became the focal point of the gym, allowing the client to perform everything from compound lifts and cable work through to accessory and conditioning exercises without requiring multiple standalone stations.
To further maximise the space, PRIMAL incorporated the Leg Press / Hack Squat machine, providing dual-function lower-body training within one compact unit. Free weights and integrated storage solutions were carefully positioned throughout the room to maintain accessibility while reducing clutter and preserving floor space for movement and conditioning work.
The gym also features a dedicated cardio zone equipped with the PRIMAL Personal Series Stair Climber, HIIT Rower, and treadmill, creating a complete conditioning setup without overwhelming the layout of the room.
The Result
By carefully zoning the space, PRIMAL ensured the gym could seamlessly transition between strength, functional training, and cardio-focused workouts.
The completed project highlights PRIMAL’s expertise in luxury home gym design, demonstrating how intelligent planning, multifunctional equipment, and attention to detail can transform a smaller footprint into a fully equipped, highly versatile training environment tailored to modern home fitness.
