SEEING WHAT WAS POSSIBLE
Weightlifting wasn’t a sport Tammy ever imagined herself pursuing. Growing up, it wasn’t something many women around her took part in. That changed when she saw female athletes competing with confidence, strength and purpose. Watching them challenged her perception of what was possible and inspired her to take her own first step onto the platform. Those early competitions were intimidating. Every lift brought nerves, uncertainty and the pressure of performing in front of a crowd. But with every session and every competition, the platform slowly became somewhere she belonged. What once felt daunting became the place she felt most alive.
ALL IN
As her ambitions grew, so did the sacrifices needed to pursue them. Tammy made the difficult decision to leave behind the security of a full-time corporate career to dedicate herself fully to weightlifting. It was a leap into the unknown, driven by belief rather than guarantees. Today, she proudly takes the stage as a Commonwealth weightlifter, embracing the competition she once feared and using her journey to encourage more women to discover a sport that continues to challenge expectations.
LEADING BY EXAMPLE
For Tammy, success isn’t measured solely by medals or records. It’s measured by the impact she leaves behind. Every competition, every training session and every lift is an opportunity to show that strength has no predetermined mould.
